Statement from the Founder
I have dreamed of a non profit organization for rosacea research and development for some time now. It is a reality that has been accomplished despite many obstacles. There are are now presently at least five non profit organizations for rosacea. What is the difference between the other non profits and the RRDi? Here are the main differences:
Membership is free and requires no donation. Rosaceans are warmly invited to volunteer as corporate members. No other non profit allows rosaceans to be legally established voting corporate members. The RRDi board of directors has decided for now that no animal research will be supported by any funding through the institute. Having a majority of rosaceans as members of the corporation assures that rosaceans have a voice in the direction of the RRDi which is unique. No other non profit organization for rosacea allows members to have any voting rights as to who the Board of Directors are who serve in a voluntary capacity to make the decisions of the corporation.A strong Conflict of Interest Policy that will not allow members, board of directors or Medical Advisory Committee members to profit from RRDi funding, decisions, policy, or activities. The RRDi is the only rosacea research non profit that publishes its Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Conflict of Interest Policy, Charter and Rules for public viewing. All other rosacea non profits keep how its organization operates as a mystery. Check out the others to see the mystery. The RRDi was the first non profit organization made up by rosaceans for rosaceans. June 7, 2004 Incorporation registered in Hawaii. irosacea.org website registered June 16, 2004.The current policy is no commercial advertisement or endorsements on any rosacea products until we have researched and tested them.As far as we know, we are the only 501 (c) (3) approved tax exempt non profit organization made by rosaceans for rosaceans. We are here for the long haul....slow and methodical with volunteers leading us to finding the cure.
