Private Ask the MAC

The public ASK THE MAC forum is the third forum just under Members Forum - Rosacea Topics and just above Ask the Board. Click on Ask the MAC >

Ask the MAC

You will then see the following page below:

Ask the MAC Subforums

The Ask the MAC forum has one SUBFORUM called Meet the MAC Members which is near the top. Click on Meet the MAC Members. You should see the following page:

Ask the MAC > Meet the Mac Members

If you note at the top, you will see a menu that shows where you are in the forum:

RRDi >

The above menu shows at the far right that you are in the forum:

Meet the MAC Members

However, you can click on RRDi at the far left and it brings you back to the main page.

You will see above the pinned topics of some of the professionals in the ASK THE MAC forum, giving an introductory post. If you click on Ask the MAC in the above menu, you will return to the Ask the Mac forum with the subforum, Meet the MAC Members and below this subforum are a number of topics that have been posted by corporate members.

Any member may post an introductory post, or anyone can post a question or a comment by clicking on NEW TOPIC near the top right. Look for this button:

New Topic

Click on NEW TOPIC and post your question or comment.

3. What if I want to REPLY to a topic already posted?
ANSWER:

Let's go throught the steps. In the ASK THE MAC forum, if you click on the Subforum, Meet the MAC Members you will find the following topic at near the top:

Click on Pinnded: INTRODUCTION - ROBERT T. BRODELL, M.D. (the second pinned topic)
You will then be taken to this page >

Brodell Post

You will see above Dr. Brodell's introductory post and a reply under it from Jenny. If you scroll down you will see more posts. If you would like to post to this topic you can click on ADD REPLY at the top (which will add your reply to the current topic which is Dr. Brodell's introductory post) or NEW TOPIC which will start a whole new topic in the ASK THE MAC forum. Be sure to add a SUBJECT in the subject box.

BELOW each post you will see the following buttons:

quote reply buttons

If you click on the QUOTE button your reply to that post will include a quote from the original poster. If you click on REPLY it will simply add your reply quoting the original post because the + sign is set by default to quote the poster. Let's click on the REPLY button and note what happens when you see this page:

Brodell Post 2

The quote is at the top of the MESSAGE box and reads as follows:
Another new member of the advisory board...Robert T. Brodell, M.D. I am in the private practice of Dermatology and Dermatopathology in Warren, Ohio, and serve on the volunteer faculty of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. I also serve on the committee that produces the AAD on-line rosacea website (rosacea-Net Workgroup) and serve as a director of the American Board of Dermatology. Looking forward to lending a hand!
You may type your message in the message box either BEFORE the first BRACKET or AFTER the last BRACKET. How does this work?

Go back to Dr. Brodell's original introductory post by clicking on the Robert T. Brodell, M.D. menu which is at the far right as seen below.

Brodell Post Menu

Find it on your browswer and click on Robert T. Brodell, M.D. and note how you return to Dr. Brodell's original post. Scroll down till you see Jenny Nairn's post which looks like this:

Jenny's Reply to Dr. Brodell

In the above post, Jenny replied to Dr. Brodell's initial post without QUOTING Dr. Brodell. How did Jenny do this? See the two buttons on the far right called + Quote and "Reply ? You will see these two buttons on the bottom of every post:

quote reply buttons

If you click on the left button [+ Quote ] it changes it to this:

Negative Quote - No Quoting to a Post!

Jenny first clicked on the [+ Quote] button then clicked on the [" Reply] button and got a page that looks like this:

Jenny's Reply to Dr. Brodell

In above post there is not quote box of the original post by Dr. Brodell.

Now let's look at a post that includes the original post using the quote feature. If you go back to the orginal post by Dr. Brodell and scroll down to rosacea2006 [display name] who signed her post 'Anne' you will see the post if you click on it and should see this post:

Anne's reply to Dr. Brodell

At the top of Anne's post there is a box that includes the orginal post by Dr. Brodel.

So when you want to reply to any post, just go to the bottom of the post and look for these buttons on the right:

quote reply buttons

Click on the [" REPLY] button and you will get this blank message to use to post with:

How to Reply

If the quote from the orginal post is still in the message box you can simply select all the text and remove it and begin with a blank message box like the above box.

If you want the original quote in your message you can type either BEFORE the message or AFTER the message and the orginal quote remains in a box either above or below your post.

Type in your message and then click on the [ADD REPLY] button on the bottom (see the button above) or look for this button near the bottom of the message box you typed in:

Add Reply button
